Sunnyvale North schools
Public school students who live in Sunnyvale North attend one of three elementary schools, depending on home address. These schools include:
- Fairwood Elementary School
- Lakewood Elementary School
- San Miguel Elementary School
When it comes to standardized test performance, Fairwood is by far the best school of the three. Students here have increased the school’s average standardized test score every year since 2010. From elementary school, public school students in Sunnyvale North move on to Columbia Middle School and then Fremont High School.

Don’t let the strip-mall appearance of the Lakewood Shopping Center fool you. When you buy a home in Sunnyvale North you’ll be glad that you can make quick stops here to drop your dry cleaning, see the dentist, get your nails done or grab a bite to eat.
You’ll find pockets of shopping and dining opportunities throughout the community, along Fair Oaks Ave. (north of Tasman); along W. and E. Maude Avenues; on E. Duane (between San Pedro and San Rafael) and Tasman Dr. off the Lawrence Expressway.
If golf is your idea of the best way to spend your leisure time, check out the homes for sale near Columbia Park or Orchard Gardens Park – these areas are less than a 10-minute drive to the clubhouse at Sunnyvale Golf Course.

Lakewood Park – 11 acres full of fun for everyone. Lakewood offers an outer space theme with picnic areas, basketball, handball and tennis courts, children’s play structures and a kids’ water play area, a bike path, horseshoe pits and multi-use field. Lakewood Park is located in central Sunnyvale North.
Seven Seas Park – Also located in central Sunnyvale North, Seven Seas Park is every Sunnyvale North kid’s favorite. It offers two playgrounds and a spray pool. Dogs like it too because they have their own fenced area.
Orchard Gardens Park – Located in the northwest section of Sunnyvale North, Orchard Gardens Park is tiny, only two acres, but packed with amenities. Here you can play tennis, shoot some hoops, let the kids play in the toddler play area, use the barbecue pit, take to the bike path, enjoy the fitness equipment or use the park to access the John. W. Christian Greenbelt.
Columbia Park – Located in Sunnyvale North’s southwest section, adjacent to Columbia Middle School, is beloved by residents for its swimming pool. But folks also enjoy the children’s area, lighted tennis courts, volleyball court, shuffleboard and, when school isn’t in session, the basketball courts, multi-use field, and parcourse at the middle school.
John. W. Christian Greenbelt, an 80-foot wide strip of land that traverses Sunnyvale, bisects Sunnyvale North. Our section of the greenbelt links some of our parks from Orchard Gardens to Lakewood Park and Seven Seas Park. Bikers, hikers, and others use the trail to not only get around Sunnyvale North but for recreational purposes as well.
Sunnyvale North homes
Older folks on a budget who are toying with the idea of buying a mobile home in Sunnyvale will have good luck here in Sunnyvale North. The community is home to a number of mobile home parks, from Casa de Amigos in the northern part of the community to the gorgeous Adobe Wells on the east side.
Sunnyvale North is also home to a number of luxury townhomes, some of which date back to 1959. Newer developments feature tri-level communities with top-of-the-line amenities.
Sunnyvale North’s detached, single-family homes for sale include vintage Eichlers, built in the 1950s (primarily in the Lakewood neighborhood) and they are quite affordable, by Sunnyvale standards.
The least expensive homes for sale in Sunnyvale North are mobile homes which are typically priced from the low $100,000s to $400,000. Townhomes for sale in Sunnyvale North are generally priced from the mid-$600,000s. Plan on spending at least $900,000 for a single-family detached home and as much as several million dollars.
