Several school districts serve the public school students who live here. The Oak Grove School District offers Santa Teresa Elementary, Bernal Intermediate, and Santa Teresa High schools.
Morgan Hill School District administers Los Paseos Elementary, Martin Murphy Middle, Ann Sobrato High and Live Oak High schools.
Although school ranking site SchoolDigger.com awards both elementary schools with four out of a possible five stars, Santa Teresa ranks higher – 1,152 out of 5,621 public elementary schools in California. Los Paseos is ranked 1,640th.
Bernal Intermediate is ranked higher than Martin Murphey (465th and 957th, respectively, of 2,472 California middle schools) and Santa Teresa High is ranked higher than Live Oak High – 230 and 682, respectively, of 2,044 California high schools.
In fact, Santa Teresa High School students raised their standardized test scores nearly 36 points between 2013 and 2016.
Shopping, dining, and recreation in Santa Teresa
As mentioned earlier, this community is decidedly suburban. Along the edges, you’ll find offices, research laboratories and small areas of commercial activity. Santa Teresa Village, located on the community’s east side, offers more than 125,000 square feet of shopping. Anchored by a large supermarket and hardware store, it provides residents a handy stop for shopping and running errands.
Or, grab the light rail line that runs from here to Downtown San Jose.
The community is home to several popular San Jose ethnic cuisine restaurants, including Simple Viet, Oros Thai, Nick the Greek, Shiki Japanese Restaurant and others.
Golfers may want to look at the homes for sale in Santa Teresa’s northwest section, home to Boulder Ridge Golf Club. Aside from the 18-hole course, the club offers golf lessons, spa services, and a social club.
Green thumb-bearing residents are invited to sign up for plots at one of the area’s two community gardens. Both La Colina and Laguna Seca Community Gardens offer completely organic gardening opportunities.
When nature beckons, head to Santa Teresa County Park where you can watch the wildlife, hike, or play golf at the Santa Teresa Golf Course.
