The last thing many folks want after a day in the city is congestion in their neighborhoods. If a rural vibe and lots of open space are on your Cupertino home-shopping wish list, visit the Oak Valley neighborhood. Nestled into the city’s northwest corner, the entire western border is open space, offering plenty of opportunities to relax and leave the workday behind.
Schools in Oak Valley
The Cupertino Union School District, ranked 24th of 865 California public school districts, serves Oak Valley’s elementary and middle school students. The Fremont Union High School District, ranked 31st of 865 California public school districts, administers the high school.
Oak Valley students attend the following schools:
- Stevens Creek Elementary School – serves nearly 600 students in grades Kindergarten through 5.
- John F. Kennedy Middle School – an exceptional school, JFK Middle School is ranked 5th of California’s 2,472 public middle schools.
- Monta Vista High School – another high-performing school, Monta Vista is ranked 8th of 2,044 California public high schools.
Monarch Christian School is located on Oak Valley’s border with Los Altos. It serves children in Preschool through grade 5.
Oak Valley amenities
You won’t find any shopping or dining opportunities within Oak Valley – but that’s exactly why you want to move here, right? You will find plenty of places to stop on your way home from work or on the weekends, however.
There is a small neighborhood center located at Stevens Creek and Foothill Boulevards that offers a dentist and other services. Down the street is a gas station and a small liquor/grocery store.
What Oak Valley is known for is its open space and you’ll find 289 acres of it, plus 23 miles of trails, in the northern part of the neighborhood at Rancho San Antonio County Park. Here, residents picnic, fly model airplanes, ride their horses and bikes, jog, hike, play tennis and connect with nature.
Speaking of horses, the Whispering Creek Equestrian Center, a horse boarding facility, is located in Oak Valley with easy access to the park’s equestrian trails.
Homes in Oak Valley
Oak Valley is known as a low-density residential area. All homes, with the exception of the senior-living facility in the northwest, are single-family detached homes, built primarily in the late 1990s to the early 2000s.
Look to spend, on average, at least $2.9 million to buy a home in Cupertino’s Oak Valley neighborhood.
You’ll find Oak Valley south of the 280 and north of Stevens Creek Blvd., between N. Foothill Blvd. and the City of Los Altos/Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve/Santa Clara County open space.
