Creston, Cupertino
So, is the Creston neighborhood in Los Altos or Cupertino? That depends on whom you ask. Residents in this decidedly residential neighborhood may have one or the other address. What remains consistent for them, however, is the snappy commute from here – the 280 provides Creston’s northern border.
Creston schools
Public school students who live in Creston attend schools administered by the Cupertino Union and Fremont Union High School Districts. They are assigned to the following schools:
- Stevens Creek Elementary School – Located within the Creston community, Stevens Creek Elementary serves more than 580 students in grades Kindergarten through 5. The school ranks 184th of California’s 5,621 public elementary schools.
- John F. Kennedy Middle School – One of the highest-ranked middle schools in California (5th of 2,472 public middle schools in the state), Kennedy Middle School has a total enrollment of nearly 1,500 students in grades 6 through 8.
- Monta Vista High School – Serves more than 2,300 students in grades 9 through 12. Monta Vista is another high-performing school, ranked 8th of 2,044 California public high schools.
Shopping, dining and recreation in Creston
Creston is a residential neighborhood, so you won’t find a lot of retail shopping, services, and restaurants within its borders. Just north, however, off Homestead Rd., you can shop at Trader Joe’s, Rite-Aid, Peet’s Coffee and more.
Bateh Brothers Liquors and Groceries lies just over the community’s southwest border and it’s worth a stop to pick up a bottle of wine and engage in conversation with the store’s über congenial owner.
Creston residents love their parks, most especially Varian Park. With tennis courts, two playgrounds and picnic areas, the 6.3 acres here get plenty of use.
Somerset Park is more of a neighborhood-style park and it, too, offers a picnic area and playground for the little ones.
Golfers love Creston for its proximity to Blackberry Farm Golf Course, just over the community’s southeast corner. This 9-hole track has a Par of 29, narrow fairways and small greens.
Creston homes
Creston offers primarily single-family, detached homes sitting on large lots. You’ll find many ranch-style homes and a smattering of Mediterranean and Eichlers as well.
Of course, home prices vary according to a number of factors but expect to pay in excess of $3 million for a remodeled home with slightly less than 2,000 square feet of living space.
