Schools in Cumberland

The Sunnyvale School District serves the public school students who live in Cumberland.

Cumberland Elementary School – A California Gold Ribbon School, Cumberland serves more than 700 students in grades K through 5. School rankings site GreatSchools.org and SchoolDigger.com both award the school their highest ratings. This elementary school performs better than 95 percent of all California public elementary schools.

Sunnyvale Middle School – Like Cumberland Elementary, Sunnyvale Middle School is a California Gold Ribbon School but it has also achieved National Blue Ribbon status. The school serves 1,200 students in grades 6 through 8. Between 2012 and 2016, Sunnyvale Middle School students raised the school’s average standardized test score more than 12 points.

Homestead High School – Administered by the Fremont Union High School District, Homestead High is an in-demand school, located in Cupertino. SchoolDigger.com ranks the school 60 of 2,044 California public high schools. About 63 percent of the students participate in AP® courses.

Cumberland shopping dining and recreation

El Camino Real, which provides the neighborhood’s northern border, offers an array of shopping, dining and entertainment venues. From fast-food eateries to auto mechanics, a barber, auto dealership and more, you won’t have to travel far to run routine errands.

Recreational opportunities abound in nearby parks. The 24-acre Las Palmas Park, located over the neighborhood’s eastern border, offers a splash park for the kids as well as a play area, tennis courts and a special place to let the dog socialize with others.

Mango Park, located near Sunnyvale Middle School, offers lighted tennis courts and DeAnza Park, just south of Mango and adjacent to the Stratford School, has a skating rink, horseshoe pits, and basketball courts.

Homes in Cumberland

Cumberland’s first homes were built in the mid-1950s, so you’ll find many examples of the quintessential California ranch-style home. Area homes built in the 1960s are larger, many with two stories, and have more square footage.
