If being in close proximity to medical facilities and outdoor recreation is important, consider buying a home in the Parkmont area of Fremont. The southern section of the neighborhood is home to Windsor Park Care Center of Fremont and the Windsor Country Drive Care Center (both rehabilitation facilities), Park Center Care and Rehabilitation Center, California Cardiovascular, Puri Pediatric Medical Group, dentists, pharmacies and more. Just over the border, you’ll find Fremont’s Washington Hospital and the Health Care System.

North of Parkmont lies a wonderland of recreational opportunities, which we’ll get into below.

 

Parkmont Schools

  • Parkmont Elementary School – Located within Parkmont, the school serves slightly more than 900 students in grades Kindergarten through 6. In 2016, Parkmont students performed better than 95.5 percent of students throughout California’s public elementary schools.

 

  • Centerville Junior High – Nearly 1,000 7th and 8th grade students attend Centerville.

 

 

  • Washington High School – An improving school with a 27-point increase in the average standardized test score between 2013 and 2016.

 

Private schools in Parkmont include New Horizons School, a private, non-religious, elementary school that serves 200 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Friends of Children with Special Needs, sponsored by the Chinese American Community Foundation, offers two programs: an educational enrichment program and an after-school program for children with special needs.

 

Shopping, dining and recreation in Parkmont

The nearest shopping opportunities when you live in Parkmont are located over the community’s southeast and southwest borders with downtown Fremont. The latter is home to a Whole Foods Market while the latter offers Gateway Shopping Plaza (between Mowry and Walnut Avenues) with plenty of eating, drinking, shopping and service facilities.

If you’re new to the Northern California area and Fremont in particular, and you happen to sport a green thumb, you’ll definitely want to make visits to the Shinn Historical Park and Arboretum, located right here in Parkmont. What better way to learn what will grow in the area than by viewing the gardening success of others? Shinn offers 4.5 acres to tour.

Parkmont also offers easy access to the Alameda Creek Trail and the Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area.
